• Passed Away.

  I had just dozed off for a little nap when my phone started vibrating. It was my Dad.

  He asked if I was home or was going to be later.

  He told me he wanted me to be extra nice or try to cheer Connor up a bit. 

  Kevin was about 60. Connor meant him through this Guitar shop. He was a good friend and mentor to Connor. He helped him learn guitar and when Connor was upset or pissed off about something, he’d actually listen to Kevin. {A few years ago, there was a big news story; apparently some teenager had thrown a big cement block off a high over pass and it went through a cars windshield and killed the lady driving. That was Kevin’s wife.} I’d met him a handful of times, but my parents and Connor knew him really well. He was a really good guy. 

  This past Friday, Connor hung out with him. 
  On Saturday he tried calling him, but no answer. That evening he went by his house after the fall fling to introduce Martin, his friend from church, to Kevin. His car was there, there was a radio on, but no sign of Kevin.
  Yesterday (Sunday), he went by his house and it was the same scene.

  Today, my Mom and Connor went to his house and found the land lord and got the door opened. Connor and the landlord went in and found Kevin in the kitchen floor, dead. 

  They don’t know the cause of death yet. 

  My Dad said Connor is, understandably, really upset. He also is blaming himself, saying if he’d gone over sooner Saturday, or done something differently, maybe he’d still be alive. He’s in no way responsible for Kevin’s death. I hope he realizes that soon. 

  If you wouldn’t mind praying for Kevin’s family, my family, and especially my brother, Connor. 

  I barely knew the guy, but I really upset about it too. I can’t seem to stop crying. I’ve never really had to deal with death before… I don’t like it.
