  • No baby here + an update :P

So I figured I clear one thing up first. I am not pregnant. I received a message asking me about that after I pulsed about sonographers on here. No, I am currently in my last semester at UALR and will be moving on to finish my last two years at UAMS.

I've sent in my application, paid the forty freakin' dollar application fee (apparently it just went up from being twenty -.-), sent them my transcript, and completed my observation hours. Now all that's left is meeting with the board whenever they contact me to do so.
I asked plenty of questions when I went for my observation hours, but I had two questions I forgot to ask. 1) How many hours they average per week, and 2) do they get paid when they're on call (someone told me they do, but it doesn't make sense that they would unless they actually got called in). So I was just wondering about that. Soooo, if you're a sonographer, married to one, related to one, or you know one (or even if you just know the answer somehow) then I'd greatly appreciate the info!
Anyways, Trey and I have been doing great. Things are going well. I'm sad this will be my last semester with him at school. Assuming I get in, I'd go to UAMS for two years then graduate. That following semester, he'll be starting there for two years for PA school. I'll be all by myself at a new and intimidating school :( I'll live, but it'll be scary at first. Trey should have his German degree by the end of summer. He has to go on a study abroad program for a month, but then he'll have enough hours to get it. He's also going to sniper school for a month (probably will be broken into two sets of two weeks at a time because it'd be in the middle of the school year and he can't take off a whole month during it). So he's going to be gone for like two months throughout April-July probably. It'll suck, but I guess if he gets deployed I'd have to deal with it too (but for much longer) so I'll survive. Same as with school, it'll just suck lol.
I'm liking most of my classes. I'm taking the following:
    • ASL (American Sign Language) and LOVING it,
    • World Literature which isn't too bad,
    • Social Psychology which I picked just for the hell of it and it's awesome
    • Intro to Music which I hate and I hate that the school forces the Arts on people even if they have NO interest in them...
    • and Ethics and Society which I just picked randomly and it's pretty cool. Sometimes the reading (philosophy) can be a little hard, but I like the discussion aspect of it.
Trey's birthday is Tuesday. I'm excited to give him his presents :) I was also going to take him out to the Pantry (a German restaurant in town) but he says his family's going out for dinner and that's where they're going.... way to steal my thing which I had planned for a while. He knew I was going to do it too :( I'm really upset/disappointed by that. They have good beer there and since it's his 21st I was gonna drive and buy him one. Well, pay for it, I can't buy for another like 14 months lol.
Umm, speaking of German, I'm learning it with Rosetta Stone. It's cool and it's not too difficult to learn. The Rosetta Stone program is really cool.
I've been meaning to update for a bit, I've just been really busy.
Oh and I'm convinced I have manic depressive disorder. Trey told me he thought I was and I looked it up and it fits me perfectly. I don't know. I'm not going to go to the doctor to have it confirmed or tested or anything. Just throwing that out there as a random thought.
I suppose I'm going to read more of chapter four in social psychology on behaviors and attitudes :P Later!

  • A Lie Told in an Interview

Interviewer: "So why do you want to work at this company/job/place?"

What you say: "Oh I like the business and it's seems like a great work environment and yadda yadda..."
Truth: "Because you pay and possibly because I don't think working here would make me want to kill myself."
    Yep lol.

  • Coffee date // (& prayers)

So this morning I have a coffee date with my sister, Erin.
She was down for Christmas then she had to go back to Fayetteville for some RA stuff for a few days, but she came back down on Wednesday. Since she's been back she's really wanted to get together with me for a coffee date. Wednesday it was late and I was at Trey's, Thursday morning I was busy then I worked all day, Friday I got up at 6:30am and seriously didn't stop moving until 9:15pm (crazy busy day!). Today I work 10am-7pm, so I figure I can fit her in this morning before work. This works out perfectly since I believe she leaves later today.

I'm just hoping this goes well. Usually a coffee date with her means me having to pay for her coffee too and then her lecturing me/ trying to give me life advice.
Last year was in late November/early December and she started fussing out me for having gotten engaged. It pissed me off because I didn't want to hear it, I'd just paid for her coffee, and I'd just recently had surgery on my nose (for a deviated septum) and I couldn't storm out and walk home. So yeah, fingers crossed this is all pleasant and she pays for herself lol.

P.S. I have a very stressful and semi-suspenseful situation. I'm praying things will go my way. It can go one way or the other and how it goes will affect my future. I don't want to go into details right now, but if I could get everyone to pray or send good thoughts my way, I'd really appreciate it.

  • Finally a real update. School, work, and army stuff.

Let's see.. I owe an update.

    END OF SEMESTER:

    I completed this fall semester (16 hours) with 4 A's, 1 B, and 1 C :/
The C was in physics, and I have a feeling it was a really high C. I might try to retake it if I can sometime.
I did, however, make an A in the physics lab.
I made an A in speech, and A in psychology, and an A in civ 2. Computer literacy, I made a B in. It was a 87.5 and it made me really sad. I was really hoping for a B in physics.. I figured all semester I'd wind up passing with a C but right before the final I found out that (an A was impossible) but a B was very possible.. guess I blew the final though because I wound up with a C.
Trey made all A's... smarty butt.
    WORK:
I've been working at Stein Mart now for two and a half months. Stein Mart is a retail store. It's mainly clothes but it has some home stuff, linens, kitchen stuff, accessories, and electronics. It sells nice labels/brand at reduced prices. I like most of the people I work with. I'm a cashier. (I believe @sf2slc asked me that.. or was it @ccrider17 ? I'm too lazy to look back in my comments from previous post right now. So I'll just tag you both :P ) I signed up as a less than 20 hours a week person, figured I'd just worked weekends but I wound up working usually 20-25 hours a week. This week since school out and all I was going to work almost 40 but we were closed two days before the snow took out the electricity.

    SCHOOL:
Next semester should be my easiest yet.
Intro to Music (Which I'll have with Trey and I'll be with the professor Joy had and recommended) -Required
American Sign Language - Elective because I thought it sounded cool
World Literature (I'll be with the professor Trey had last semester. He said he was really good and made it interesting! Plus, if he uses the same books, I'll have them for free thanks to Trey :) ) -Required
Social Psychology (Looked online and my professor has great ratings!) - Elective cause I thought it sounded cool
Ethics and Society (This professor also has great ratings! It's a philosophy class) - Elective.. sounded intriguing.

I wanted to take Advanced first Aide but it was all filled up. Or K-12 Drug Education but it was filled too, except for like a 7pm class and I don't do evenings.

    WORK OUT/ROTC/ARMY STUFF:
I've been uber lazy since I got lymphangitis. I finished the last of my antibiotics Wednesday, so thankfully I'm done with that. I really want to work out again now. At first I felt all weak and sickly, so I focused only on getting better; now I'm better so I want to keep working out. I definitely don't want to wait until I go back to school or I'll get my butt kicked at ROTC.
@ArmyWife4Life2007 asked in a post where I was bragging about my PT scores if I joined. To answer that, no. I've been working out with the ROTC guys at my college three days a week in the mornings. Just for fun, my friend Joy does it with me. Right before Christmas break, Major Grey, from UCA (where it's located) came down to meet with me. He saw me work out with them once and was mega impressed. Not to mention Sgt. Adams had been bragging to him about me. They want me. I could get a full scholarship (room, board, food, EVERYTHING) to UCA, but they don't have sonography. Plus, I'd have to go up there a semester and be observed before I could qualify for it. PLUS, then it's not guaranteed. If something happened to their funds it might not be there (Unlikely, but possible). And then there's the one major problem. DRUGS. I'm on celexa, well I was. You can't be on any form of medication like antidepressants, adderal, ADD or ADHD medicine, etc. for a year before joining anything military. I forgot and told them.
I stopped cold turkey that day. But the issue is the two (Sgt. Adams and Major Grey) know. So I wouldn't be able to join for another year. Plus, I'd have to fit a four year program into 1 and a half years at that point. Which is impossible. He could've done it in 2.5 years, but not 1.5. So my only option then would be to do a degree with a graduate school.
I'd also be changing from sonography to something at UCA (probably occupational therapy) if I joined because commuting to UAMS back to UCA for ROTC would be ridiculous and close to impossible.

I am still considering army. I'd go through it with the Army reserves however. They wouldn't be told about any medicine history and I would go to basic then AIT this summer/fall.
I looked into it and I can put my Arkansas Lottery Scholarship on hold for two semesters, I'll just need to let them know when it's official. That was my Mom's main bitch ( of course, money always is her complaint) but she's still against it now that I got that area covered. My Dad doesn't think I should do it, but he'll be supportive either way (because that's just how he is). I have Trey's support 100%. He completely believes I can do it. Joy supports me too. Connor does not approve at all. Basic and being gone so long would definitely suck, but I could do it. When I do talk to a recruiter I'm going to want my MOS to be combat medic.
I've been meaning to have Trey go with me to a recruiter (I'm going to have him with me so I don't get fucked over somehow), but I've been busy and forgetful.

I've blabbered on a bunch and no one seems to really ever read uber long post (part of the reason I labeled sections, that way if you're interested you can still catch up on parts you want to know about :P ) So I'm probably gonna get off my lazy ass now and do an Insanity video.. I haven't done one of these in forever!

  • Fed up

Christmas morning Trey came over to my house for a little to open presents with us.

After that we drove an hour out to his Nana's. Bad weather was coming earlier than expected so after an hour there, we went back to his house. It snowed and iced and I had to stay the night. (Not that I minded.)
His Dad's been being an ass and I'm fucking sick of him. He usually makes jokes and is playful (at peoples expense), but it seems personal today and I'm fed up with it. Could be because his diabetic ass is pigging out on sugary treats and his sugar is all out of whack. But whatever, he's a grown man, if he wants to eat like he's not diabetic that's on him.
I was suppose to work 7-4pm today but I was stranded and it was closed. I don't know what's up with tomorrow, I'm scheduled to 5-9:30pm, if they're open I'm going to try to get Trey to drive me, but his car isn't really meant for ice... it's meant for speed lol.
There's like a foot of snow (some places, other is like 7-8 inches) and underneath it is ice.
I'm reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and OMG this is amazing and twisted and crazy!
And Trey re-installed Rosetta Stone for me so I'm working on German again. I did lesson one today! So far it's easy.
Anyways, I'm stranded here, luckily I brought extra clothes on the off chance that might happen. I didn't however bring my coffee maker or the supplies of food I normally bring. Damnit.
I'll save Christmas presents and what-nots for a different update. I'mma try to get Trey to stop gaming and come to bed with me now.

  • Sunday night ER trip

Sooo, I had a hang-nail, eh I believe Tuesday morning. I pulled it off and didn't think to put a bandaid on it since it wasn't bleeding or anything. I went out with some gloves and I guess some fuzz got in it from the glove. It looked normal until perhaps Friday night when I noticed it getting a little infected. At that point I started putting neosporin and hydrogen peroxide on it fairly regularly.

The finger tip (my ring finger on my left hand) looked pretty bad on Saturday, but nothing outrageous.

Sunday morning it looked worse, my finger was swollen, and it was extremely tend. Oh, and before I left to work the nursery that morning I noticed it was pulsating.

Around 11 am I noticed a little bruise on my hand. It was maybe an inch below the middle finger knuckle, and was also a little pink. I'd say it was about two inches. I didn't remember hitting my hand on anything but I figured I must have. About 2pm, my finger was swollen to the point I couldn't get my engagement right off. Trey and his Dad decided my finger looked like a zombie finger lol. I went into work at 5:00 and we were really busy for like an hour straight, but when it did slow down I noticed the little pinky-red bruise continued up my forearm. I was like the fuck?! So I just showed Joy and kept working, but decided I'd go to the college health services tomorrow.

Right before closing I noticed it had grown even further up my arm, nearly to my armpit. Everyone at work was alarmed by the streak and said that was a bad sign and something you were always supposed to work for. They got me sent home maybe 15 minutes early to go to the ER. After arguing with my parents that I needed to go tonight because some of the people their thought it was blood poisoning and it appeared as though it was going to my heart, which would probably kill me, my sister agreed to take me. (She only did it because I was going to have to drive myself.)

All the nurses were surprised and alarmed by my arm. They did culture test ("not just the pink and blue but the whole rainbow" as the nurse said it lol, which meant they were testing for like everything. My white blood cell count came back normal so they were all puzzled. They sent me back to a room and I saw a doctor shortly who walked it, asked what was up, looked at it, and was like BAM this is what you have lol. So they hooked me up to an IV and gave my an antibiotic through that and I was sent free.

I have lymphangitis. It's an infection of the lymph vessels.
{From an online source: Lymphangitis is an infection of the lymphatic vessels, an important component of the immune system's filtration process, that is caused by a bacterial infection. If left untreated, lymphangitis can spread quickly throughout the bloodstream and is potentially fatal.} It does say though, it caught and treated properly it can be easily fixed. So I'll be on antibiotics for the next ten days and apply heat (which makes the already really hot finger, burn) to my finger.

    And of course...

Pictures! The quality isn't the best because my batteries were about to die on my camera. I did finally pry my ring off my finger at the end of work, but it hurt like hell and took a lot of soapy water and work!

Anyways, one day of antibiotics down, nine more to go.

  • I am awesome!!

As I've mentioned before, I work out with the ROTC guys Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. PT is from 6:30-7:30 generally. This morning they did APFT (Army Physical Fitness Test). I participated. The goal is to do as many push ups in two minutes as you can do, as many sit ups in two minutes as you can do, and to run two miles as fast as you can.

    *drum roll*
44 push ups in two minutes (And yes, they were correct push ups, not 'girl push ups'. I never do girl push ups.)
84 sit ups in two minutes!
    &&&&
    Two miles in 15:40!
I maxed my sit ups and push ups and was one second away from maxing my run. ONE SECOND! Urgh lol.
    {{Hmmm, I just looked it up online and it says 15:36 for 100% but oh well. four seconds off. }}
I AM SOOOOO EXCITED!!! :D I ROCKED MY PT TEST!
Also, there was some guy named Major Grey at ROTC Monday and Sgt. Adams wasn't there. Apparently, he was asking Mr. Adams about the brunette chick who was kicking ass. He even said he was going to have to pick up his game! :)
Eeekk! My morning's off to a good start!

  • Did I remember underwear today?

Tuesday, I left my psychology notebook in the DSC, and read the wrong reading for Civ 2.

Yesterday, I left my coffee maker (which yes, i bring to school) at home,
I left my water bottle for when i work out,
I went to the wrong place to meet up with the ROTC guys to work out,
(^^ which means I was wearing  shorts in the 40 degree weather because I thought we were going to be inside.)
I forgot my graphing calculator ,as well as my mechanical pencil.
    This was all by 9:00am

Going to Trey's I also forgot to bring bread and yogurt like I had planned.

I'm surprised I remembered to put underwear on that day.
